Smores

A couple days ago Sam was sitting on the couch picking at his sun burnt nose and exclaimed, "I think my freckles are coming off"
It is funny how the process of making smores really defines each child.
Leah will burn and consume as many marshmallows and smores as permitted. I think that she will literally burn them quickly just so that she can consume it and move onto the next one before her mother has time to take inventory.
With Sam it is the joy of having permission to play with fire. He is actually the one who takes on the challenge of perfectly toasting a marshmallow. If at any point the marshmallow does happen to become blackened Sam willingly lets it burn to the fire gods and moves onto his next gooey mess. More often than not Sam will not finish an entire smore and will eagerly roast a marshmallow for anyone as long as he can continue playing with the fire.
And then there is Emma who will quickly burn her marshmallow, consume her smore and spend the rest of the evening happily watching everyone else burn marshmallow after marshmallow.

Leah quickly putting out the mini fire atop her marshmallow only to move onto the next one.
My little lady will close her eyes, open wide her mouth, absorbing every last flavor of chocolate, graham cracker and blackened, crispy, gooey marshmallow. Bliss just sheer bliss, oh and pinky in the air.
Meanwhile there is Sam who is completely entranced by the flames of the fire that eating his smore is a mindless consumption and then onto that perfect spot he had been eyeing to brown his next marshmallow.
Apparently there is even an art in the charcoal form of marshmallows.
And then there is Sam who defines the goodness of his marshmallow by the melted middle that oozes it's goo over the entire graham cracker.
Emma will eat them either way and is very happy just to cook and blow out her very own marshmallow.

Love this picture of the flowers.
Well I think I got a post in and now Emma is wrapped around my neck and informing me that my time is up and it is her turn now so this will have to do.
Oh and if you have freckles I sure hope that they are not coming off like Sam's.
