Ian's surprise birthday party

Well my dear husband has now turned 30. Since he is not that big on parties or surprises I wanted to have a surprise party for him. For a week I thought that he knew but much to my delight he was genuinely surprised.

We had a pinata filled with Ian's favorite candies, butterfingers and heath bars. Ian got the first and last swing and everyone had fun with it.

The kids were in search for the flying candy as the adults would slowly grab the ones that were on the edge of the kids circle.

Ian got some great presents but the one that melted his heart the most was the one from Emma. Emma and I were shopping with Ian's birthday in mind when she spotted something out of her dreams. Literally out of her dreams, it was a pink and purple stuffed dolphin with sparkles on it. She immediately grabbed it, claimed its name as Sparkles and it was for her daddy. I was touched and without any sign of self control for his actual birthday she gave it to him that evening as soon as he got home from work. She was beaming with pride as she handed Sparkles to her dad. Shortly after it was bed time and as she is stroking Sparkles she sheepishly went up to Dad and asked, "Can I sleep with Sparkles tonight? I will take good care of it and will not get it dirty." After a moment of hesitation Ian permitted Emma to sleep with his Sparkles as long as she took good care of it. With many nods of reassurance Emma, once again beaming, dotingly took Sparkles to bed. Emma has since been taking care of Sparkles for her daddy.

Ok so everyone who knows Ian knows that he is not a big dessert person so when Lacey asked what kind of cake to make I said, vanilla with chocolate icing. Yeah apparently I should pay more attention to the one kind of cake Ian likes cause it is not vanilla it is yellow cake. Opps
And to end the party off there is nothing like family, friends, beer, and a good game.

Happy 30th Birthday Ian. You are so loved and appreciated.... even if you do drive us crazy at times.
