So we got the privilege, thanks to Ian's parents, to take the kids to the wonderful world of Disneyland. It is very much a different world and although we were caught up in the excitement of the rides I could not help but notice how the events of driving only 3 hours from our home, paying outrageous amounts of money to park and enter this other world, you immediately find yourself in a world filled with hoards of people all with the same mindset (to chase down and catch any movie characters that get payed to subject themselves to the hoards and go on as many rides as possible.) It was strangely an absolute blast, I say strangely cause I hate hoards of people, not a big movie fan, and I actually like my world.
Sam's favorite ride was the thunder mountain railroad (Leah almost peed her pants on it and then once she was released burst into tears cause it was so scary.) They both loved the tree house (could have played on it all day) and the jungle cruise (to which they both concur that the animals were not real but really the zebra was not asleep as the lady said, it was dead cause the lions were gonna eat it) They both liked the haunted house which at the end of they said that everyone gets to take a ghost home with them to which Leah replied, "I am glad we are going to the hotel and not home, the ghost can stay there" The pirates on the pirates of the Caribbean ride were real, an issue that was confirmed after intense study and observation by Leah. We did not lose anyone (including Ian), there were no complaints, whines or disappearing acts and it was a great day, everyone had fun and we found ourselves very much lost in the wonderful world of Disneyland. Thank you Scott and Jen for making it happen. Thank you Lacey for having Emma, YOU ROCK!!!!
So now onto my favorite story of the whole trip...
We were on pirate's lair on Tom Sawyers Island and Ian was walking ahead with Leah and Sam, when one of the pirate workers came along and stepped in stride with them, taking Leah and Sam's hands as if he were Ian and proceeded to start walking into the cave with them. Sam immediately looked up, seeing the pirate and not his dad dropped his hand but Leah kept on walking into the cave with him once they were a step into the cave Leah looked up as well and with a horrified look dropped her hand from his and came back to her parents who were just cracking up over the whole thing. Well later on Leah sees Jack Sparrow and just takes after him with a purpose. "Leah" I called, "you have to stay with us" Leah immediately responded with such urgency, "but there is something I have to tell him." Ok I will go with you. When she finally catches up to him (the bugger kept moving around) she goes up to him and says, "One of your pirate mates grabbed me and took me into a cave." Poor Jack who is not supposed to break character, turned another shade of color, despite the makeup and responded in a very Californian accent, "What did he look like? What was he wearing? We need to go find him!!!" Leah seemed relieved and over the whole ordeal once she got to share with the head pirate about her abduction.
